MakeMusicPDX will offer several sessions throughout the year. Each session will run eight weeks. At the end of that period there will be opportunities to perform live as a group on-stage for family and friends. We’ve just started gathering musician names, so we will announce the dates for the first session soon.
| Fill out the Registration Form and send it and the session fee (see below) to MakeMusicPDX. |
| MakeMusicPDX will match your interests with those of other musicians and singers. Two weeks before the next session, MakeMusicPDX will provide you the names and contact information of musicians selected to be in your group, and assign a coach to work with your group in preparation for a performance. |
| Meet with your group coach for an hour to get to know each other and discuss song selection, musical arrangements, and logistical information. |
| Practice sessions begin for 7 weeks. Two to 2.5 hours a week. |
| MakeMusicPDX will set up a location for your performance and you will perform for a live, supportive audience. |
MakeMusicPDX sessions will be scheduled 2 to 4 times a year, depending on interest. Visit this web site in August to get specific dates.
A new registration form is required for each session you want to participate in.
$40 per session; $25 for students and “experienced citizens” over 65.
It is our goal to keep the cost for you to participate in MakeMusicPDX as low as possible. To this end we are seeking sponsors to help support our activities. We have also filed for non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) to be able to receive grants and donations.
(We also have a limited number of partial scholarships available for each session.)
| One of the really unique qualities of the MakeMusicPDX recreational music program is that we assign a coach to each group. The coaches are chosen for their experience in performing to live audiences as well as their commitment to recreational music making. These people are not music teachers nor are they expected to be experts in all instruments or music styles. They are your musical guide and consultant to getting maximum enjoyment from the MakeMusicPDX experience. |
|
| The coach’s roles are to: |
 |
Advise group on music selection |
 |
Assist with musical arrangements |
 |
Advise on stagecraft (where to place instruments, mics etc) |
 |
Give general advise to improve performance presentation |
